International Additional Baggage Qantas Limits – Other than the Americas 

  • You can buy extra baggage in 5kg, 10kg, 15kg, 25kg, or 35kg increments, with a maximum purchase of 100kg per flight. The most you can buy in one go is 35kg.
  • You’ll incur Qantas extra baggage charges at the airport if your checked baggage weight exceeds your allowance, even if you’ve bought extra beforehand, regardless of your Frequent Flyer status.

International Additional Baggage Qantas Limits – North And South America

  • Economy and Premium Economy passengers who are not Frequent Flyers: 32kg per piece, no extra charge for heavy bags on international flights to/from North or South America as per the Qanats Additional Baggage policy.
  • Qantas Club, Silver, and Gold Frequent Flyer members in Economy and Premium Economy: 32kg per piece, no additional fee for heavy bags on international flights to/from North or South America.
  • Platinum Frequent Flyers in Economy and Premium Economy: 32kg per piece.
  • Passengers travelling in Business and First: 32kg per piece.

Qantas Domestic Extra Baggage Limits – Australia 

  • For those who aren’t frequent flyers or are Bronze members travelling in Economy class, the checked Qantas Exrta baggage allowance is 23kg per piece. If your bag exceeds this weight (up to 32kg), an extra fee will be charged at the airport.
  • For Qantas Platinum, Gold, Silver Frequent Flyers, and Qantas Club members flying in Economy class, the checked baggage allowance is 32kg per piece.
  • All customers travelling in Business – 32kg per piece.
  • Additional baggage carried over the pre-purchased allowance will be subject to excess baggage charges at the airport, regardless of Frequent Flyer status.

Heavy and Excess Baggage Qantas – Rules 

Excess baggage charges apply at the airport for any baggage exceeding your Qanats baggage allowance limits. The Qantas extra baggage fees mentioned are applicable for Qantas flights bearing a ‘QF’ flight number and differ based on the destination. 

If excess baggage fees are calculated per piece instead of by weight, an additional fee will be levied at the airport for any individual baggage piece surpassing the weight limit outlined in your checked baggage allowance. Remember, no single checked item can weigh more than 32kg.
